The fun thing about working as a freelancer is the variety. Last year, I worked for my former employer, Zwijsen, on the language programme Taaljacht, reading comprehension tests for Estafette, and – completely new to me – a Maths programme. I worked on Early Readers' books for both Zwijsen and Bontekoe, I translated a Sogeti report on AI into English for LINE UP, I was asked to be a visual editor for Noordhoff, checked a satirical atlas by De Speld/De Grote Podcastlas as a sensitivity reader, and, of course, edited more Time to Momo city and region guides. I was introduced to the work of travel journaller Merel Djamilla Hoekstra by editing her book, and edited all eight guides from mo'media's new Why Should I Go To series. Subsequently, I ended up with a lovely new client: FJORD. What beautiful books they produce! And again, I find myself in good company with the creators at this publishing house.

Merel Djamila Hoekstra is a travel journaller and chances are you already follow her on insta, as 121k people do. Het work is amazing and mo'media have just published her book (which was edited by yours truly). In it, she shows off her work and explains how to accomplish the same.

The timing is brilliant, as it would make a beautiful gift for your friends and family who are creative or have the ambition to be.

Just look at it: It's a work of beauty!

Mo's daughters publishes books with female protagonists that won't let you tell them that they can't do something just because they're girls: they discover the world, are inventors, are brave, and travel beyond the moon.

I wrote about Mo's daughters before, because I edited (eight Dutch and ten English) books they published and because I support their mission. In 2021, they released a series of books in cooperation with Action with a price that made them accessible for everyone, and this festive period four of their titles are available at Kruidvat. Saint Nicholas can get everyone a book!👟🥕📘
